"A wise woman--an admired mother and wife--when asked
how, with her weak physical health and many demands upon her
time, she managed to read so much, said, 'Besides my Bible, I
always keep books going that are just for me--a stiff book, a
moderately easy book, and a novel, and I always take up the one
I feel fit for.'"

Insomnia and Pimpin' Old Men
2005-07-14
5:24 a.m.
I've been awake since 3:00AM. This is the fourth night in a row. Can you believe that even at these ungodly hours I still have trouble finding an uninterrupted hour? J is up working and is sending me email invites to join him downstairs in his office (unfortunately for me sex is not a sedative) and Lil keeps waking up ever so often. Right now Lil has hit the point of being a real handful and is sure to stay that way for a while. I know to expect it, but still you'd think she could give me a few hours in the middle of the night. Yesterday she needed to nurse while I was reading some stuff off the internet, so I actually resorted to plopping my laptop on the floor and using my toes to navigate while I fed her and read. Is that multi-tasking, or what? Yesterday I saw this suit clad little old man get out of his car with the aid of a walking stick and slowly make his way back to the trunk. Once there he slowly opened it up, pulled out a walker, and shuffled away. I laughed my butt off, not because I'm amused by the plight of the elderly but because his car was a brand new convertible T-bird and the roof was down. That was one pimpin' little old man!
