J Unearths His Office
2005-08-12
5:27 p.m.

J has been in his office all day long. Doing what, you ask? Cleaning. Yes, you heard that right! Cleaning. Let me say it one more time. Cleaning. He is working on filling up his third enormous bag of trash. This is the first time this room has been dejunked in five years. And no, I didn't nag him into it. It was voluntary. I think he finally realized it wasn't on my agenda and that if he didn't do something soon the filth and rubble would overtake him. Plus, he kept losing things. Important things. Things like my speeding ticket. He ran across it some time after it was due to be sent in with the $63 check. Right now there is probably a warrant out for my arrest. (J casually mentioned that in front of Jes and told me not to get another ticket or that I'd end up in jail. What did Jes hear? That I WAS going to jail. Poor wittle kid nearly freaked out. Way to go Dad!) Anyway, I've always toyed with the idea of going on strike and refusing to do anything until everyone else started picking up slack. I imagined things being rotten and nasty for a few days, but then the disgust with the squalor and vermin would be too much for everyone and they would say, "Man, look what happens when Mom doesn't do anything. Whoa, we better appreciate her more and help her out. Hey, let's all get this house whipped back into shape and keep it that way. Let's never make her ask us to do anything ever again." *I awaken from fanciful daydream* So now I know that the lack of cleanliness and order would go pretty much undetected for five years. Crap. Another perfectly good plan foiled.
