Heard at my house today:
Me: "J, what's wrong? Put your shoes on."
4yo J: *whimpering* "My pants feel weird."
Me: "What?"
4yo J: *whimpering, tears pooling up in eyes* "My pants feel weird. My pants feel weird. I need new pants."
Me: (I check out the pants and can't seem to find any sort of defect or why they might "feel weird.") "Okay, take those off and try these on."
So J takes his current "weird feeling" jeans off and puts another pair on. I leave the room and from the kitchen I hear...
J: *whimpering and despondent* "They feel weird, they feel weird, they feel weird."
So I go back to his room and inquire about the nature of this weirdness.
Me: "Where do they feel weird at?"
And he proceeds to stick his hand in the back of his pants and tells me...
J: *whimpering turning to full blown sobbing* "I put new underwear on and they still feel weird. They feel weird when I walk."
So we now have a second pair of "weird feeling" jeans..."weird when I walk" jeans. I decide to yank out a pair of plain old Levis...
Me: "Here, put these on."
J shimmies out of his "weird" Kenneth Cole's, slings them on top of his "weird" FUBUs, and shimmies into his play Levis.
J: "These are fine." And he walks quite normally down the stairs to watch cartoons.
